Is your Power Clean?
Start with 100% Renewable Energy, available through your local Community Choice Energy provider (CCE, also known as Community Choice Aggregation , CCA). This is available to anyone, renters and homeowners alike, as long as you pay your own electricity bill (it is not included in your rent). So even if you are unable to put solar power on your roof, you can have clean, renewable energy. If you can put in solar on your roof, that’s great too, because you are generating your own clean energy!
Once you have 100% Renewable Energy, everything you plug in at home will be fueled by your clean energy choice.
The CCA’s in the Bay Area all provide a basic service which ranges from about 40% renewable to 60% renewable power. Most customers are opted in to the basic service. However, you can opt up to the 100% renewable power for an extra 1 cent to 2.5 cents per kWh. For typical household usage, that would work out to about $3 to $7 extra per month.
